The Las Vegas strip at night as photographed from the foothills
on the western edge of Las Vegas and using a
telephoto lens. Note the beam of light going up over the Luxor
hotel pyramid.
The atmospheric pollution, early in the morning, August 5, 2003,
hangs in the air and partially blocks the view of the nearby mountains.
The atmospheric pollution, by late afternoon August 5, 2003, has
been dispersed by strong desert winds
blowing it well out of Las Vegas. Nearby mountains are much
more visible and looking at the center of the image,
a distant mountain range is now visible in the central valley.
