Examine the image carefully and you
should be able to see the river valleys in Iowa, dark lake surfaces in
Kansas,
the dark surface of the Missouri
river in central North Dakota, the gray area of Chicago (urban areas are
not as white),
Lincoln is also noted by a slightly
less bright area. The snow cover extends down through northeast Oklahoma.
Northeast Minnesota is very forested
so it appears darker with the open lake areas as white. Clouds can
be seen forming in the
northern part of Lake Superior and
then blowing across the lake to the south. Although it might be difficult
at first to see this, there are
some clouds in eastern North Dakota.
